Looking Back to our Christmas (Displays) Past

As I’ve been looking forward to this coming Christmas season and getting inspired by current Christmas Visual Merchandising trends, I can’t help but reflect on some of our past Christmas display highlights. This brought me back to our most viewed and popular Pinterest post from over a decade ago.

This particular post featured one of our early Christmas activation displays for Westfield Whitford City in December 2013. Although our original blog and website have long since been updated (goodbye links!), the images still live on.

I thought it would be fun to share more of these images, as the classic pyramid shape and red/white colour scheme still stand the test of time. Here are some additional photos and an original sketch (before we went digital) to enjoy and hopefully inspire you in your upcoming Christmas displays.

Until next time,
Juliet

There is something special about looking back on my early days with Design Merchants when I hand drew all of the concept sketches. This display ended up being a stand alone one and we didn't include the top signage however almost all the other elements shown were reflected in the final display.

Including an acrylic front to the crates with retailer products was a fiddly exercise but worth it for reducing theft and ensuring the display stayed looking fresh throughout the season. Double sided tape was used in force to make sure the boxes were kept in place.

If I were to do this display now it would definitely be on a round plinth but the floor decal still helped to define the display.
