Brand Activation Trends 2025

January social media has been all about 2025 trends, particularly in weddings and events. One of the favourite parts of my job is to research these trends and see how they can and will be reflected in the visual merchandising and brand activation space. There is a great deal of inspiration that comes from both interiors and the wedding and event spheres, sparking ideas for brand experiences, activations, backdrops and commercial events.

Here are the trends I love and think we will see a lot more of:

Drapery

I’ve talked about this one before, but it’s worth mentioning again (and again). Drapery has been low-key around for a few years but has now gone stratospheric. We’re already using drapery techniques in backdrop activations for clients and planning a lot more.

It can be dramatic, modern or whimsical, suiting any style and can be used as a visual structure to a space as well as in the styling of tablescapes and almost anything else. Draping fabric is also a more sustainable alternative from a solid structure as the fabric can easily be repurposed in many ways. Plus, it’s highly impactful visually—a win-win for both style and sustainability.

Eclectic Editorial

This is probably a few micro trends mixed in together and could probably have a sub heading of Maximalism but whatever it’s called I am here for it. Think whimsical botanical greenery, sparse or chaotic florals, crystal elements, curves, ruffles and dreamy lighting in photographs. This trend mixes modern and vintage aesthetics with quirky additions like fruit or unusual flowers. It’s playful yet sophisticated, making it perfect for creating memorable brand activations. A few of the Pinterest Predicts 2025 trends such as Rococo Revival and Surreal Soiree fit in here too.

Gallery Style

This trend works well for activations that include table settings and signage inspired by gallery exhibitions. We are seeing a lot of gallery style table seating signage installations with an old world feel of gold frames and vintage accents. As well as this the more modern stylings of reimagining a gallery setting for your event. It provides a sleek and artistic look that brands can incorporate into their signage and branding for a polished, cool style.

Mocha Mousse: Pantone 2025

Pantone’s Colour of the Year for 2025, Mocha Mousse, may have felt underwhelming at first, but it’s already being used effectively in fashion and weddings. The key is to accent with either contrasting or tonal colours like dark chocolates or soft creams to add either sophistication or a dreamy vibe.

Colour Blocking- Cherry Red

While not a new trend, I predict colour blocking will be taken to new heights in brand activations in 2025. This technique will continue to evolve and remain relevant and I think some of the key colours coming through in interiors right now such as Cherry Red will be seen in the space. Again Pinterest Predicts 2025 has Cherry Coded as one of it’s key trends. Using monochromatic plinths and structures, floral arrangements, coordinated styling, and matching floor decals this will create visually cohesive and impactful designs and work well for Autumn Winter designs in Australia.

Sustainable and Reusable Design Elements

One trend I am seeing but would like to see even more of is designing activations that can be reused and repurposed. With rising material costs and growing environmental concerns, this is an essential focus. Modular structures, recycled signage, and versatile design elements such as drapery allow agencies and brands to future-proof their activations while staying within tighter budgets.

All in all, I’m excited for 2025 and look forward to using these trends in our brand activation designs. It will be fascinating to see how the industry and brands adapt and innovate with these inspirations.

Until Next Time,

Juliet
